How Can Burn Out and Decision Fatigue Impact Your Health?

Health is not a destination, it is a journey. One that requires a constant balancing act.

Have you ever felt burnt out or caught in a bad cycle in your health journey? You might be experiencing:

• Decision Fatigue - did you know that when you’ve had to make several decisions throughout the day, it becomes more difficult to make good decisions at the end of the day? In relation to your health, this could lead to poor heath-related behaviors. For example, if you’ve made decisions to eat healthy all day, be active, go to work, you might experience decision fatigue and end up having a late night binge. A great way to combat this is to plan ahead! Whether you meal prep or decide your dinner plans earlier on, you’ll be prepared and will not have to make yet another decision after a long day.

• Burn Out - do you feel like you always start out the day strong , but end up bingeing at night? Most of the time, being too extreme with your health is actually counter-productive and almost the same as a fad diet. This is where the balancing act comes in - we are all human and you don’t have to be perfect all the time. When we are too strict and extreme all the time, we are likely to feel burn out and end up engaging in harmful behaviors like bingeing. So, you don’t have to skip carbs and healthy snacks all day for the sake of not having extra calories.

Again, balance is key. Eat healthy most of the time, but avoid burn out & decision fatigue by indulging in moderation and making sure to enjoy life!
